Energy Savings in Data Centers - Case Study - US Postal Service
In a typical data center, less than 50% of delivered power is used by server load and computing operations. The balance is used by power conversion and cooling.
In consultation with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, Powersmiths studied the energy savings opportunities for CSL-3 transformers/PDUs in the data center environment. Aggregated savings at one facility with 30 PDUs were estimated at over $250,000 per year with an associated reduction of 760 tons of CO2 annually.
